Pasma: OCDSB’s withdrawal from Capital Pride sends the wrong message

OTTAWA – Following the deeply concerning decision by the OCDSB to pull its participation from Capital Pride, Ottawa West – Nepean MPP Chandra Pasma released the following statement:

“Pride is a commitment to education, community, and standing together against discrimination. Schools have a responsibility to ensure that every student and staff member feels safe, valued, and welcome.

“The OCDSB’s decision to withdraw from Capital Pride sends a deeply disappointing and regressive message to LGBTQ students that they do not matter. I urge the board to reconsider this decision and reaffirm its commitment to ensuring inclusion and equality, as well as safety and belonging.”
