PASMA: Ford rams through his attack on our schools

QUEEN’S PARK — Ontario NDP Shadow Minister for Education Chandra Pasma (Ottawa West – Nepean) is continuing to call out the Ford government’s attack on Ontario’s schools with Bill 33. They have fast-tracked this Bill, bypassed committees, and shut down debates. This afternoon, the Bill will be called for a very limited 2-hour debate before it continues to be rushed through:

“Bill 33 does nothing to support students or families,” said Pasma. “For months, Minister Calandra has unleashed chaos on our schools, shut out parents’ voices, and continued to ignore the state of our classrooms. Instead of listening to parents and students, Minister Calandra and Premier Ford have handed over the control of our schools to Conservative insiders raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars while never answering a phone call. This is not an education plan; this is a disaster.

“We need to invest in our schools, reduce class sizes, and ensure that our kids have the support they need. It’s time to put an end to the political games and invest in our children’s future.”
