Ontario NDP names Ali Chatur as Provincial Director

TORONTO -- The Ontario New Democratic Party has named long-time organizer Ali Chatur as the next Provincial Director.

Chatur brings over 15 years of involvement in the New Democratic Party, with experience spanning grassroots organizing, party governance, and staff leadership at both the provincial and federal levels, and has played senior roles on winning campaigns across the country.

“This is an exciting moment for our party,” said Janelle Brady, President of the Ontario NDP. “Ali brings over a decade of experience in political organizing and a proven ability to bring people into our movement. He understands that keeping members at the heart of every decision is how we grow our party and run strong, on-the-ground campaigns.”

“I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to our interim Provincial Director Penny Marno for working tirelessly to lead the important work of our party since September 2025.
Since 2018, Ali Chatur has held senior staff roles on campaign teams across the country. He has served as Tour Director for former federal and provincial NDP leaders and has been a member of the Ontario NDP Provincial Executive since 2017, including two terms as Vice President. Together through this work, Chatur has built strong, trusted relationships with riding associations, grassroots activists, and labour affiliates and understands what it takes to turn those partnerships into winning campaigns as the party prepares for the next election.
