MPP Pasma calls on Ford Government to support Ottawa after flooding disaster

OTTAWA – NDP MPP Chandra Pasma (Ottawa West – Nepean) has sent a letter to the Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, after the Ottawa region was hit by an unprecedented storm that left many parts of the region fully flooded:

"Families across Ottawa have lost homes, belongings, and peace of mind because of this devastating flooding,” said Pasma. “For many Ottawa residents, the damage will be financially catastrophic without insurance coverage. They shouldn't have to face the financial burden of recovery alone.

“I'm calling on the Ford government to immediately activate the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program and provide Ottawa with the resources it needs to support emergency response and recovery.

“Our communities have come together to support one another in this crisis. Now it's time for the province to step up and ensure no one is left behind."
