QUEEN’S PARK – NDP MPP Catherine McKenney (Ottawa Centre) is welcoming new provincial rules that will allow tenants to install window air conditioning units without unnecessary restrictions, calling it an important step toward protecting renters during extreme summer heat.
“Allowing tenants to install window air conditioning units without unnecessary barriers is an important and long-overdue step that will help keep people safe during increasingly dangerous summer heat. This change is a win for tenants and housing advocates who have been pushing for basic protections for years.
McKenney is also renewing calls for Ontario to implement a maximum temperature law to ensure tenants are protected from unsafe indoor temperatures.
“There is still more work to do. No one should be forced to endure unsafe temperatures in their home. Ontario needs a maximum temperature law to protect tenants from extreme heat and ensure every renter can live safely and with dignity.”
We're so happy to have you on the team. We'll be in touch soon.
