McKenney: Where are the homes Doug Ford promised to build

OTTAWA – NDP Shadow Minister for Housing, Catherine McKenney (Ottawa Centre) called out Doug Ford and his Minister of Housing for not delivering on the promised 1.5 million homes, as housing starts took a dip in May:

“Doug Ford promised Ontarians 1.5 million homes,” said MPP McKenney. “So where are they? Families are still being priced out, renters are stuck in impossible situations, and young people are giving up on the dream of owning a home altogether.

“The numbers released today show this government is nowhere near meeting the targets it set for itself, even after years of photo ops and empty announcements.

“Instead of helping lobbyists and insiders, this government should be focused on what Ontarians are actually asking for: building affordable homes and speeding up non-profit housing so people can realistically see a path to affordable housing and homeownership again. Right now, that dream is out of reach because the homes Doug Ford promised simply do not exist.”
