GLOVER: No business case, no plan, and a sham consultation, it’s time to shut down Ford’s waterfront scheme

QUEEN’S PARK –– Ontario NDP MPP Chris Glover says it’s time for Prime Minister Mark Carney and his Toronto MPs to be accountable to the people of Toronto, and stop Doug Ford’s Billy Bishop expansion scheme, after Canadian press reporting revealed that no plans will be released during the ongoing public consultations:

“We know enough to stop this deal,” said Glover. “A $5 billion price tag, worsened traffic gridlock downtown, jets landing and taking off from the waterfront every few minutes. Not only is there no business case for this expansion, but there’s no plan at all. It’s no wonder why Doug Ford’s favourability is at an all-time low.

“Ford is adamant about expanding Billy Bishop to line the pockets of Wall Street bankers. This part-time Premier is willing to destroy Little Norway Park and the Toronto Islands to force this move on the people of Toronto. Mark Carney doesn’t need public consultations to know that he has a responsibility to protect our community from this corrupt Premier and American interests. He must cancel this project.”
