BELL: Budget 2026 shows Ford is only looking out for himself

QUEEN’S PARK — Ontario NDP Shadow Finance Minister Jessica Bell (University—Rosedale) ripped Doug Ford during today’s Question Period, after his government tabled a budget that has the Premier’s interests in mind, but not those of everyday Ontarians.

“The Ford government’s budget is more about protecting themselves than helping Ontario,” said Bell.

“It has no meaningful measures to make life affordable. No action to lower the cost of rent. The word “grocery” doesn’t even appear in the budget, but Ontarians can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the Premier’s top priority was sealing his phone records.

“While Doug Ford looks out for himself, the services Ontarians rely on are buckling. This budget won’t increase access to primary care, or end long wait times and hallway health care. It doesn’t address overcrowded classrooms, kids being denied access to school, and teacher shortages.

“Ontarians are struggling to afford their basic necessities, get their children an education, or access health care. When will Ford decide to improve the lives of people in our province, instead of shielding himself from accountability?”
